Executive vs Hi-Flo vs EX2... Which Should I get?

All 3 choices are good. IF you are replacing the complete wetend pump, the Executive gives more horsepower choices.

The Hi-Flo is commonly uses on swimming pools but will also work fine in the hot tub/spa application.

What You Need to Know About Wetend Pumps

First, match the FR or FRAME size. For spas, 48fr is most common but 56fr is becoming very popular. It relates to the diameter of the motor.

Second the Horse Power. You can undersize the horsepower in relation to the motor but you can not oversize. What this means is you can put a 2hp pump on a 3hp motor but not the opposite. Well.... you can be you will likely cause the early death of the motor.

Third, Suction/Discharge fittings. The place where the spa's plumbing attaches can be either 1 1/2", 2", or 2 1/2". The first 2 are common with 2" by far the most common. The third is not common. On pumps that use a 2 1/2" fitting, its usually the suction side only. We only carry 1 1/2" pump (few) and 2" pump. 2 1/2" pumps are a special order item.

Fourth, Suction/Discharge Location: On few 3/4-1.5" pumps the front fitting is sloped down. Most common for all pumps is the front connection is center/middle. Discharge is either SIDE or Center. SIDE is most common but lower horsepower pumps may have a Center Discharge.

Lastly is direction of discharge. Most come with the ability to point Up (12 o'clock) to the Right (3 o'clock) or the Left (9 o'clock). Industry standard is UP, 12 o'clock. The direction can easily be changed upon receipt. Contact us for help.
